Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all removal, packing, delivery and storage services provided by JJ Movers Pty Ltd (ABN 84 654 321 098), trading as JJ Movers. By confirming a booking you accept these terms.

1. Quotes

Quotes are based on the information you give us about the inventory, property size, access, stairs, parking and distance. If the actual job differs materially — extra items, restricted access, a longer carry or a delayed start — the time taken will change and the final charge will reflect actual time worked at the quoted hourly rate. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise and include GST.

2. Bookings and deposits

A booking is confirmed when you accept the quote in writing and we allocate a crew and truck to your date. Local moves generally require no deposit. Interstate, commercial and storage bookings may require a deposit, which is credited against your final invoice.

3. Charging

• Local moves are charged hourly from crew arrival at pickup to completion at delivery.
• Minimum charges apply: three hours for two movers, four hours for three or more.
• After the minimum, time is billed in 15 minute increments.
• A flat travel fee applies based on your suburb and is shown on the quote.
• Public holidays and starts outside 6:00 am – 6:00 pm carry a 15% loading.
• Interstate and fixed-price jobs are charged as quoted, subject to clause 1.

4. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the job unless credit terms have been agreed in writing. We accept bank transfer, credit or debit card and cash. Card payments may incur a surcharge equal to the processing cost. Overdue accounts may attract interest and reasonable recovery costs.

5. Cancellations and changes

• Free cancellation or date change more than 48 hours before the booked start time.
• Inside 48 hours, a cancellation fee of up to two hours at the quoted rate may apply if the slot cannot be refilled.
• If we cannot attend due to breakdown, illness or an event beyond our control, we will offer the earliest alternative date and refund any deposit if you choose not to proceed.

6. Your responsibilities

• Be present, or nominate an authorised representative, at both addresses.
• Ensure all items are packed, sealed and ready before the crew arrives, unless you have booked a packing service.
• Empty, defrost and dry fridges and freezers, and disconnect appliances.
• Arrange lawful parking, lift bookings and any permits required at both properties.
• Disclose heavy, fragile, valuable or specialty items before the move.
• Carry cash, jewellery, documents, medication and irreplaceable items yourself.
• Check that nothing is left behind and that the truck is empty before we depart.

7. Items we will not carry

For safety and legal reasons our crews cannot transport flammable liquids or gases, explosives, firearms and ammunition, illegal substances, hazardous chemicals, live animals, perishable food, or cash and precious metals. Plants may be refused where interstate quarantine rules apply.

8. Liability and cover

We carry public liability cover and handle your goods with reasonable care and skill. Optional goods-in-transit or full-value protection can be arranged at your request before the move and is subject to the insurer's policy terms, limits and excess.

Except where cover applies, we are not responsible for:

• Items packed by the customer where the packing was inadequate.
• Inherent defects, existing damage, wear and tear, or items already unstable.
• Electronic or mechanical faults that appear after transport with no external damage.
• Damage caused by moving an item the customer instructed us to move against our advice.
• Damage to fixtures caused by items that cannot fit through an opening safely.
• Loss or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Damage claims

Any damage must be noted at delivery where possible and reported to us in writing within seven days, with photographs. We will investigate and respond within 14 days. Claims cannot be assessed once items have been moved, repaired or disposed of.

10. Storage

Stored goods are held subject to a separate storage agreement, billed weekly or monthly in advance. Goods will not be released until all outstanding charges are paid, and we reserve a lien over stored goods for unpaid amounts.

11. Delays

We give arrival windows rather than exact times because traffic, weather and preceding jobs are variable. We are not liable for consequential losses arising from a delayed start, though we will always notify you as early as possible.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
